[Gllug] Samba or Something?

Thanks again to those who posted suggestions in response to the question
I posed yesterday.

I installed Samba (samba-2.0.7) from my SuSE (7.0) disk yesterday
afternoon and successfully managed to set up some test links to other
machines on the network. I'm hitting a few problems - mainly I think
down to the connection timing out. I think I need to do a bit more
reading around - are there any good resources out there that focus on
just setting up a connection and keeping it alive without going off into
all sorts of stuff about setting up network printing, domain controllers
and a whole bunch of other things I don't need at the moment?

I've read through the Samba-HOWTO and the man page on smb.conf without
experiencing much enlightenment so far... ;-)
