i once had an external disc enclosure off an old sparc box, that had
SCSI II on the back plane.  i put an UW disk into it, and ran the SCSI
cable from it into a spare slot in my PC.  i think this what he's
referring to.

( i had no room in the case for the extra disk, and just used the
enclosure to supply power. )
