I am trying to get a cacheing nameserver working on my PC but seem to 
have some problems.  I had to run it using

#sudo -u named named

and I get the following in the /var/log/messages:

'auth-nxdomain' option is now 'no'
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: no IPv6 interfaces found
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: listening on IPv4 interface lo, 
127.0.0.1#53
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: could not listen on UDP socket: 
permission denied
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: creating IPv4 interface lo 
failed; interface ignored
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: listening on IPv4 interface 
eth0, 172.16.3.24#53
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: could not listen on UDP socket: 
permission denied
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: creating IPv4 interface eth0 
failed; interface ignored
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: not listening on any interfaces
Jan 23 17:54:47 localhost named[14702]: couldn't add command channel 
127.0.0.1#953: permission denied

And although named is running, it doesn't seem to be listening on any 
ports when nmapping localhost:

$nmap localhost

Any ideas?
