The USB Speetouch frog/stingray/whatever is incredibly easy to get going.
As long as you're running USB hotswap on your system, and you download the
firmware from http://www.alcateldsl.com and the "drivers" from
http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net, you should be able to get up and
running within 5 minutes. Once installed, you can use the supplied init
script to get your ADSL connection up and running, or you can run two
commands (modem_run and pppd call adsl) to get everything going.

The drivers are already built into Mandrake 8.1, and Smoothwall 0.99 (GPL
and commercial) also includes support for the USB Speetouch frog (although
both require that you download the firmware mgmt.o application from
Alcatel's site and stick it someone on your system before it'll work - for
copyright reasons that can't include it within the distro).

I'd still be much happier with the ethernet ADSL product from IOmart, but
it's the best I can afford right now.

Regards,

	Martyn
