I had experiance of that.  i just assumed they were a load of crap.  I
ended up chucking it out[0] and using serial consoles[1].

[0] Well, actually telling boss that his KVM was a POS and he might as
well take it back home.

[1] A few serial leads and an old laptop to most people. There was some
documentation in /usr/share/doc/ about using serial gettys.
