If we where unable to change, mould or create new rules/laws then where
would we be. Would we still be burning witch's with the local village mob be
your Jury. Everything is subject to change including your rights depending
on circumstance. Who decided on the first law and where they correct. In
America every black man was considered a slave for a time, who decided that
this was wrong and what did they do. If having "a comforting lie" stopped
slavery as it seems to have done I would rather live with that than laws
that cannot be changed.

Cast your mind back to the ignorance of laws that have been changed and you
will see that only hindsight has 20:20 vision.
