Check which version you have (ls -l /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf*, or ls -l 
/opt/gnome/lib/libgdk_pixbuf*). I seem to have both so.1 and so.2 versions in 
the two respective locations (undoubtedly due to some odd package upgrading). 
Anyway, the version I have there needs the so.1 library to exist (told you 
it's an old version, and only really a last resource).
