On Fri 18 Jan, tet at accucard.com made the following spurious claims:

The TV-Out only works with the G400, not the G450 or G550. These
options will stay greyed out until the driver supports it.

I suspect the problem is Macrovision. If they released an open source
driver, Macrovision would be trivial to disable. However they already
have a closed-source component so I don't see why they can't stick it
in there.

If you own a G450 or G550, please take the time to write to Matrox
asking for TV-Out support! Considering it works on the G400 I can't
see it being more than a couple of days of developer time.

If you can program in C and know your way around the X source, Matrox
will send you full specs. And I will buy you a number of beers when
you get it going!

Now that Linux has an excellent DVD player (Ogle) and an excellent
player for everything else (Xine), it's time I stop having to reboot.
