Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who chipped in. After playing around with the DTF-2
drive today we have managed to get 15MB/s consistently to the tape.
This is a big improvement over 8MB/s.

The edited highlights are.

Check /proc/scsi/scsi to see that the drive had been noticed.
Check /proc/scsi/aix7xxx/0 to see what speed connection had been
negotiated. In this case a 20MB/s link.
mt -f /dev/st0 status tells us the tape drive is on-line.
tar cvfb /dev/st0 8192 * tars everything from the current directory
with a big block size to improve the speed.

If you want to use the drive's hardware compression to use less tapes
mt -f /dev/st0 compression

Thanks again,
Huw
