1) have you upgraded any libs recently ? 
2) is that during bootup, or during heavy Loads, and if its the later,
is that what you meant by system crashing " unable to connect, or run
any new processes ??!

if the later it could probably be due to the number of open-files, I had
a flaky installation of an ecom package onces that did the same.
