Whyever not?

I guess this is a distro-specific thing and your bash is linked against
something not to be found in /?

(If so, been there, done that, boot floppy was 300 miles away. Most
annoying.)

libreadline and libncurses and friends now live in /lib on my systems :)

I bloody wish I'd had some. It would have saved me a rather long
