Perhaps. Personally I wonder if it was not more of a matter of it not 
being possible to enjoy "the full movie experience" at home which DVD sort 
of offers now.

That said I have a DVD player and home cinema set up here and have done 
so for a good while and I still like going to the cinema.

Statistics show that cinema audiences are on the up again so all the 
bemoaning on the part of the movie industry would seem to be without much 
foundation on that score.
