Not sure if this will get through (I can see posts on the web archive
but not by email at the moment) but:
I have some files that "file" says are MacBinary Microsoft Word 6
format.
I have looked at macunpack, mcvert & unstuff and I was able (with
macunpack I think) to get a .data file that opened OK in AbiWord.
But this only worked for one of the files, when I try it on the others I
get a "Premature EOF" error.
I'm wondering if it might be because there are pictures included with
the document or something.
Am I using the right tools here or are there any other better ones?
I suppose I could just find someone with a Mac to convert them for me
but it would be nice to be able to do them myself. I'm not too up on
Macs but as I understand it MacBinary format is like a wrapper that
stores the data and metadata separately and I just need to extract the
data. Then Abiword should be able to sort out the MS Word format.
