I am a fairly literate Java programmer (which is more hobby than profession), and I'd like to back-engineer myself for some C/C++ Linux programming, using the GNOME toolkit. Can anybody direct me in the way of some good URLs or books (URLs preferably as they are free!) that will help me learn C/C++, as well as Linux specific GUI construction (a subject which has eluded me on the internet thus far).

Hi,

http://rute.sourceforge.net has a section on basic C programming and
Linux Magazine has been running a C tutorial for linux users for a few
months now though I don't know if there are back issuses.

Peace Jim
