Seconded. You get native widgets (though not necessarily important IMO), 
and it runs fast and fairly cross-platform without running into issues 
about non-Freeness like you do with QT. The people I know who've done a 
lot more programming on this kind of thing than me say wxWindows is 
definitely the way to go.

Sean: If you give XUL a go I'd be very interested to hear back on your 
general impression and thoughts. I'd like to have a good look myself but 
sadly don't have time at pressent.
