There are sample CRW files available for download at dpreview.com, IIRR.
There is a lot to be said for the RAW formats - it would just be much
better if they were open. Actually, enough work has been done by now
that Canon's "read-only" digital original argument is out of the window
- anyone with adequate determination and skill could build on what's out
there to add "save as RAW" ability to an application.
