Well it seems to succeed, here is the session:

[will at hellacool mail]$ mail will at hellacool.co.uk
Subject: test
test
.
Cc:
[will at hellacool mail]$

The mail never arives.  The same happens when I do $mail will (local user).

Unfortunatly I have insufficient understanding of mail to have the first 
idea ofwhere to start :-)
