Thanks for the info - local history can be such a neglected hobby! Anyone
know _why_ SELon was called "Indian Country"? As it happens, although I
didn't know the exact meaning, I assumed there was a relevance. In fact, I
settled for "I live in I.C." to mean "I live in the country (i.e. outside
GtrLon)" Not a racist assumption at all. Indeed, the idea that _Indian_ may
refer to an Asian people never arose - my interpretation comes from an
American point of view. Sometimes intentions are blindly read in where there
are actually none to be found. What a black day that would be!
