[Gllug] usb -> serial hardware

Having just got rid of floppy/parra/serial etc I now need a serial port on 
the ibook, anyone have experience with usb -> serial converters in linux / 
OS/X on x86 or ppc?

Or where to get one of these ionetworks.com boxes cheapo...
