Yes, they're well specced in terms of memory and CPU power, but I've had
endless problems with Advent.  I remember buying one from PC World,
getting it home and using Windows on it quite satisfactory for a couple
of days.

I came around to installing SuSE 7.2 on it, and as soon as I did, the
screen died horribly and I couldn't get the machine to work ever again. 
Went to PC World the next day for an exchange.

I'v found that the Advent's hard drives are pretty slow and unimpressive
as well - which is another reason why I don't touch them.  They also
have pretty rubbish graphics cards.

I wouldn't touch HP stuff either.  Your best bet is the Dell range of
laptops.  They're always extremely well specced all round, and you get
good support for them as well.  Go for Dell :)
