No, don't. Use its replacement: ethtool. It's kept up to date, and the
modern kernels are supporting it in preference, akaik.

Jeff Garzik appears to be the driving force behind it, but I think
Donald Becker also supports it (any resident kernel hackers (dj) might
want to correct me here)
