When UT and Q3A first came out a while back didn't seem to work very
well with any cards other than the Nvidia cards obviously this has
changed now, but the performance back then seemed to be quite bad on
other cards. With all the noise about Unreal 2 and Doom III I am
guessing that you will again need an Nvidia card to play them unless
either the ATI drivers get sorted out PDQ, and the Matrox cards are
looking dated for any of these new games.

Its all very well and good pointing to games that are 2 or 3 years old
and I am sure that UT2003 will play nicely on lots of cards in Linux in
2 or 3 years time but that doesn't really help me wanting to play games
today. Also if you want to consider the more professional gfx software
(ok commercial) in Linux again to get the best performance and support
you have to use Nvidia cards.
