Most emulators I have come across make Shift-Fn = F(n+10)
Or failing that Ctrl-Fn.  It would be worth trying that before trying to
configure it yourself.

I have a function on my VMS editor bound to F17 that has been set up like
since the days or real
VTs (prob 420s).  Nowadays I would have avoided n>12, but I have never got
round to changing it.
