eek, no ftp/http options? that sounds a little brain dead to me.
how about using SMB then? it wouldnt be the first protocol i'd have
thought about/chosen, but it does appear to *me* to be more reliable
than NFS.
if you dont have an overwhelming compelling reason to use Suse, why not
take this as an oppourtunity to switch allegiance to a different distro?
i'd recommend debian[1].

[1] indeed, not mandy cooker anymore, i'm getting to like this stability
over making ropes with razor blades.
