That's true, but that's always been the case even with Sony's OpenMG software 
for Windows.  You can 'check-in' music from the MD to the PC, but that's just 
a managed delete from the MD and can only be done to tracks that were 
downloaded to the MD from the PC in the first place.

The only reason for checking-in a track to remove it from an MD is so that 
OpenMG will allow you to download it to another MD later (you're only allowed 
to copy it to an MD three times - after that you have to check-in that track 
from one MD before you can download it to another).

It's all very admirable copy protection malarky, although it's fatally flawed 
- if you're moving a track ripped from a CD you could download it to three 
MDs, delete all info of that track from your PC, rip it again and download to 
another three MD ad infinitum...
