Make allowances for "genuinely" munged headers & complete newbies please,
but not as 2nd class citizens subject to the vaguaries of human exception
handling.

Providing you can allow through posts like mine, with munged headers but
an otherwise declared private email address - fine. Otherwise, no, thanks.

Precisely. Address compromise ( SPAM crap wise ) appears to be rather worse
for exposure here than it is in most other public places. Even selected NG
postings! I don't want to say any more on this subject on the
list. It only takes one hostile subscriber with minimal sk1llz to make life
difficult for everyone when vulnerabilities are signposted.

Hence my resorting to munged headers, to keep the crap under control that
comes directly to my address. It isn't possible for me to perform operation
stable door and filter at collection on all my systems. Prevention works
best for me. YMMV, and particular defensive measures may not be appropriate
for all.

It should never be down to one person to impose their will on standards
here; if that happens, and too many of my munged header posts go the bit
bucket I for one will just unsubscribe. Lots of other places with quality
Linux topic discussions to choose from. I did just that, recently.

For the old timers here - this is too close for comfort to the stupid
censorship and power games played by some FidoNet administrators. I moved
out of another regional LUG list earlier this year for precisely that
reason.

A quality exchange that could ( and maybe should ) have been discussed here
went to a linux NG because a post made to GLLUG seemed to disappear for no
good reason. ( NG Google on "DNS cluster fsck" to find that thread ). A
true came back to my post with some valuable metrics for guidance.

Three strikes like that, and I'm outta here completely.

The old spamassassin system that used to run here ( and declare itself )
lost not one of my posts as "ham". And far less crap made it to the list.

What has changed, and why? Can it be changed back perhaps? It wasn't
seriously broken AFAIKT, and I don't understand why it was altered! The
situation with hazardous HTML and other bogus posts ( particularly virus
rebounds ) is far worse, now, than it has ever been IMHO.

From and Reply To are INVALID.

All public postings use munged headers[1]- To contact me off list:
   1) Remove "M U N G I E j u m p" ONLY: leave that "nospam" in there!
   2) change "hotmail" 2 "myrealbox" after the @
