Day rate varying from £350 - £1,500 depending upon what is involved and 
who it is for.

Generally I'd quote at the lower mid range of that for setting up and 
fixing servers running common services.

Charities are offered the lower end of the scale for pretty much anything. 
Sometimes I give them lower rates depending upon their ability to pay.

Contracting isn't really the same as consultancy though.

The last contract I had I charged £500/day however it's 3 or more years 
since I've done anything committing me to being with one client all or 
most of a week for extended periods of time.
