Hi, I'm a newbie but keen to learn. Problems with trying to download and
install various programs. When I do ./configure, it scrolls through but
then gives a message:
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log
for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly
installed.
configure: error:
*** GLib 2.0 is required to build Gaim; please make sure you have the GLib
*** development headers installed. The latest version of GLib is
*** always available at http://www.gtk.org/.
I have had similar messages for GTK2 on other attempts to configure
programs. I have read a manual about paths but don't quite know if this
is the answer or how to solve it. Would be grateful for a solution to
this as it will help me install loads of stuff.
