Also you might want to try following the instructions on getting java to work
with mozilla that are in the j2re README,

its simply a matter of making a symlink of the ns600 java plugin into the
mozill/plugins directort.

you might be running into problems because of the old ABI used by compilers to
build mozilla 1.0.2, chances are a 1.5.x version will be built with gcc 3.

correct me if im talking rubbish :-)
