What version of Debian? What version of the apache2 package?
Oh, do you have any other webservers installed? What is the content of the
file /etc/default/apache2 (if it exists)? What is the exact output when you
run /etc/init.d/apache2 restart ? Are any errors logged in /var/log/apache2/
?
