[Gllug] Programs starting automatically at login

I've been running Mandrake 8.2 for ages without much trouble but
recently I find 3 applications (Emacs, gftp and KPPP) are starting
automatically at login. I've tried logging-in again and rebooting but
still the same. I notice KPPP's font-size and window size has also
changed. I've killed all the associated processes but to no avail. Any
idea what might be the culprit?
