I use xine for everything now, as mplayer took far more fiddling than I could 
be bothered with.

You need to get a dodgy libdvdcss that does crypted DVDs properly, otherwise 
xine should do everything including DivX and QuickTime (except Sorenson 3) 
without the need for win32 dlls.
