Boot from a DOS floppy and run fdisk /mbr this will re-write the mbr with
the dos/windows info. What you really need to do is boot into linux and
read the lilo man page or just search the web for the lilo man page.

Subject: [Gllug] assistance please

Can anyone assist with the following:

I wish to migrate from Windows and to that effect I partitioned an 80
gig hdd into four 20 gig partitions.

When installing Linux after creating the essential partitions in the
second partition (first installed Windows 98 with all programmes and
data, etc. a floppy disk was created for booting up Linux. When I first
tried this with another drive, when booting up with the floppy one had a
choice Windows OR Linux. ( LiLo).

NOW although I can boot from the disk into Linux there is no choice on
offer. Trying to boot in Windows where all of the data is stored there
is a problem. The system loads BUT FROM START the select menu pop-up
does not appear, so there is no way one can proceed.

It appears the MBR changes made by Linux in installation have affected
the Win98 system.

Can anyone assist with the problem?
Would it be necessary to reformat the first partition (Win98) and MBR of
course and reinstall WIN 98 and all other programs etc.?

Thanks for any help
