Depends on the model - the Netgear DG814 is quite happy as pure bridge 
with the same IP inside and out since thats what I've got here (so long as you 
have the right firmware version and NAT switched off).

I'll admit an interest since I'm a Authorised Netgear Powershift Partner but I 
only install stuff that my customers don't give me grief about.
