After the recent threads on this subject, I thought I'd mention that today's 
Financial Times has a letter from Sun Microsystem's Public Sector Director, 
Charles Andrews, pointing out the value of Open Source (though it is referred 
indirectly as 'mandating open standards' instead of proprietary).
