It's a bit annoying if you're trying to track a project closely yet
aren't a developer. (One could become one, I guess, and this problem has
prodded me into becoming one on a couple of such projects, but even so.)

The notification of this problem was, well, appalling. I only learnt
what the EOFs signified and that they were intentional in May, by which
point I'd already had to waste a good bit of time rejigging CVS-updating
scripts to handle CVS servers that randomly EOF.

(No, checking the exit code isn't good enough; CVS returns non-0 under a
good number of circumstances which can't be fixed by sleep-and-retry...)
