Well no. If you want to be picky about it, real wizards hack the
kernel with adb.

As an aside, I never really used ed, but I did use ex (and EDT
in line editing mode under VMS -- bleugh!). Screen editors didn't
really work on a teletype or over a 75 baud modem...
