On a different tack, I like the idea of storing digital photos from my
camera onto a hard disc; if I can figure out a way to get sufficient
power to my hard disc. Basically I see it as a way of changing the
storage capability of a handheld by an order of magnitude - relatively
cheaply.

I suspect that the power requirements of my hard disc will exceed that
avaiable from this card. Does anyone know of a pocket USB hub that will
accept a bundle of AA batteries as a power supply? Failing that, does
anyone what to hazard a guess of what will happen if I hook up 4 AA
batteries in series and plug it into my hard disc? In my mind, that's 6V
going into a 5V device, therefore a problem.

I'm also interested in a Terrapin Mine, but I recall they're very
expensive, single-use devices, and not 'pocketable' (where a PDA can be
stuffed in a pocket, and a hard disc left in a bag elsewhere).

Usual call for comments...

Richard
