[Gllug] One way IP traffic

I have a server running RH9.0 (2.4.20-18.9) on a SuperMicro MoBo with
onboard Gb LAN

It is plugged into a NetGear Gb Switch

It seems like the server stops listening on it's eth0 port?

If I leave it for a while and then try to ping it or telnet it does not
respond.

If I send a ping or other traffic OUT of the server the incomming traffic
starts to flow!

Any ideas?
