Just to square the circle,
I purchased from scan.co.uk
a supermicro motherboard, P4 2.4, 512 Mb RAM & 3 x Promise IDE controllers
(?29 each)
2 x 80 Gb RAID 1 for the /boot and / and swap
4 x 250 Gb RAID 5 for their data
I have just one 250 Gb disk per cable form the promise controllers which
leaves me 2 spare channels for the future...
RH9 allowed me to make the mds in the setup and all looks well :-)
Count those blocks...
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/md1 40313912 4977180 33288852 14% /
/dev/md0 396608 13585 362547 4% /boot
/dev/md2 723795392 32828 686995824 1% /datadisk
none 256900 0 256900 0% /dev/shm
Now I've just go to test it...
