Squid's configuration has a list of "safe" ports that it will proxy 
requests for, 80 being the most obvious.  By default Squid should not allow 
requests to port 25.  If a "default" configuration _does_ allow this then 
something is badly wrong and the package provider deserves blows from the 
Cluestick[tm].  If you didn't, check your configuration.

Elsewhere in this thread Tim Clarke (Hi again, Tim) mentioned that he has 
squid configured to only listen on the internal IP of his Linux firewall - 
this is a very good precaution and I'd advise anyone running Squid to do 
this unless they have a specific need otherwise.
