I just spotted the reply in the Guardian Online  by Labour MEP Arlene
McCarthy
to last week's article by RMS.

I'm not an expert in this field, but if you are part of the campaign etc. it
would be worth a read.

Don't want to ignite the flames, but it contains the phrase
"It is time some of the 'computer rights campaigers' got real"
The general tone is pretty much 'nanny knows best'.
