I'll second the NetGear MA401 which I've used on my Debian box. I can 
use it interchangeably with my wife's Linksys WPC11.  Any PrismII card 
will work with the linux-wlan-ng drivers.

Only complaint I have about the MA401 is that the aerial sticks way out 
of the laptop and isn't as burly as the Linksys card.
