Hi,

I have an ADSL line, connecting via a USB alcatel modem (the blue manta-ray ones).
I spend a lot of time away, and ssh back into my box.

Sometimes the line dies, fault in the BT network/ISP problem/...
Once the fault has cleared, it is easy to restart by unplugging (USB) the modem for
a few seconds and reloading the ppp, etc, s/ware.

The trouble with that is that I need to be there to unplug & plug it back in. I have
not been able to reload from the command line -- and so write a adsl-watcher script.

I am running a recent 2.4 kernel with the open source Benoit (?) driver, but would be
happy to change if needed.

Has anyone got any perls of wisdome for me ?
