[Gllug] Redhat 9 and moving distribution: your experience

Except, of course, that one only has to compile once and then the binaries are 
optimised forever - it may take longer to set-up the system but once that's 
done it's done and ones system is optimised.  Granted, compiling packages 
takes longer than executing 'rpm -Uvh package.rpm', but it's not something 
one does every day.
