[Gllug] Routers and more importantly, Javascript

Speaking of Javascript, can someone explain to me why so many sites
used Javascript instead of standard anchors?  By way of an example,
www.allmusic.com, has fabulous content but it's really tedious to use
because you can't open a link in a new tab or window.  You also can't
copy and paste their URLs or bookmark a sub-page.  (well, I've found
you can do the last two, with a bit of trickery well beyond the
average user)

I'd like to know why anyone would cripple their site in such a way?
