Neither. Well, it's closer to a modem than a router.
It's a D-Link 300G+. It's a sort of a ADSL/ethernet bridge.

I don't need a firewall. I configure my server instead.

I'm fixing the problem.
The disconnecting is only because I have a very odd "modem". It's not
because of line problems.
