The ICP Vortex cards are real RAID cards. Everything is done in hardware
- you can build arrays before the operating system is installed. They
provide two ways of controlling the card - icpcon, a bit of software
that can do it while the system is up, and gdtsetup, which is all in the
controller BIOS.
