I'm not sure about the duck (although Mandrake, as a plant whose root
has reputed mystical powers, is pretty silly in its own right) but the
dog is probably Mutt....

ps. FWIW, I'm helping increase the use of Linux and the Open Source
approach at Lewisham Hospital within the NHS... Novell is also
contributing by making an increasing use of Linux to support it's
Netware products
