To be specific, it's faster in most circumstances, has a more secure
design and is much, much easier to configure. Sendmail, on the other
hand, is more much more flexible and configurable and supports a wider
range of delivery mechanisms (though most of those are for legacy
systems that almost nobody uses any more).

Undoubtedly. There are limits to what you can do with Postfix because
it is relatively inflexible but a) most people's needs don't push those
limits and b) if you do need to go beyond what Postfix can do for you
then Exim or Qmail are almost certainly better bets than Sendmail.
